THE MAGLI STORY STARTED EARLY LAST CENTURY, WITH A CAPITAL OF 35 LIRE AND A SMALL BUSINESS IN THE BASEMENT OF A HOME WHERE BROTHERS MARINO AND BRUNO AND THEIR SISTER MARIA STARTED TO TAKE IN CONTRACT WORK AFTER PRACTICING IN THE WORKSHOP OF A COBBLER WHO TAUGHT THEM THE ART OF MAKING AND CRAFTING SHOE.
SOON THE LARGE BASEMENT BECAME A REAL ARTISAN WORKSHOP UNTIL THE FIRST MAGLI FACTORY WAS SET UP IN 1936: THE EXTREME FLEXIBILITY AND FUNCTIONALITY BECAME SOON DISTINCTIVE OF THE SHOE AND DEFINED THE INDUSTRIAL DEBUT. AFTER THE SECOND WORLD WAR, EXPORT ABROAD BEGAN AND THE FIRST SHOP IN ITALY WAS OPENED IN BOLOGNA, STREET UGO BASSI. THE FIFTIES ALSO SAW THE BIRTH OF WHAT WAS TO BECOME THE FAMOUS MAGLI MOCCASIN, THE INTRODUCTION OF A RANGE ESPECIALLY FOR MEN AND ALSO THE FOREIGN TRADE TO UNITED STATES.
ALREADY APPRECIATED OVERSEAS, IN THE SIXTIES MAGLI STARTED INNOVATION WITH NEW CREATIONS: COURT SHOES, STILETTO HEELS AND POINTED TOES. WITH THEIR ENTRANCE INTO THE WORLD OF FASHION COMPLETE, THE MAGLI FAMILY COUNTED DESIGNERS LIKE EMILIO SCHUBERT AND BIKI AMONG THEIR FRIENDS.
WHILE IN 1969 THE COMPANY INAUGURATED A NEW OFFICE IN BOLOGNA OFFICE AND SET UP THE BOLOGNA FOOTWEAR TRADE FAIR, MAGLI PRODUCTS BECAME THOSE MOST COPIED BY COMPETITORS, FROM COURT SHOES TO LONG AND LIGHTWEIGHT BOOTS JUST LAUNCHED: MAGLI BRAND WAS FINALLY TIED TO A VERY DEFINED IDEA OF ELEGANCE BASED ON REFINEMENT AND FEMININITY AND ESSENTIAL, WELL-PROPORTIONED LINES.
BETWEEN DECEMBER 2001 AND JANUARY 2002, MAGLI COMPANY WAS TAKEN OVER BY A SPECIALIZED FUND OF INVESTMENTS IN MANUFACTURERS OF MADE IN ITALY AND ITALIAN LIFESTYLE AND TWO YEARS LATER, IN MARCH 2003, BRUNO MAGLI JAPAN WAS SET UP IN TOKYO.
IN FEBRUARY 2005, THE COMPANY STARTED THE BRUNO MAGLI MUSEUM PROJECT, WITH MORE THAN 300 MODELS: THE SELECTED SHOES HAVE BEEN EXHIBITED IN A SERIES OF ITINERANT SHOWS IN BRUNO MAGLI BOUTIQUES IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ITALIAN CITIES, IN JAPAN, IN UNITED STATES, IN RUSSIA.
THE PROJECT HAS BEEN FURTHER ENRICHED BY A LIMITED-EDITION BOOK THAT TELLS OF THE STYLE, ELEGANCE AND TOPICALITY OF A BRAND BORN IN 1936.
ON JANUARY 2007 AN INVESTMENT FUND ACQUIRED BRUNO MAGLI S.P.A: THE NEW MANAGEMENT CONTINUES DETERMINEDLY TO FURTHER THE QUALITY IDEAL OF HANDMADE PRODUCTS THAT IS TYPICAL OF THE MADE IN ITALY STYLE.

IN DECEMBER 2011 MAX KIBARDIN HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF THE BRAND. HE DESIGNS AND COORDINATES THE BRUNO MAGLI SHOES AND ACCESSORIES COLLECTION.
BORN IN RUSSIA, A DEGREE IN ARCHITECTURE, MAX KIBARDIN DEVELOPED HIS CREATIVE SKILLS THROUGHOUT EUROPE. HE STARTED IN FASHION AS A MODEL AND THEN CONTINUED HIS STUDIES IN ITALY WHERE HE GRADUATED IN FASHION DESIGN AT ISTITUTO MARANGONI.
HE ALSO SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED HIS OWN COLLECTION OF SHOES AND ACCESSORIES, WHICH QUICKLY ESTABLISHED A REPUTATION FOR ITS ELEGANCE, SOPHISTICATION AND QUALITY, AND HE HAS COLLABORATED WITH OTHER WELL-KNOWN FASHION BRANDS.
